Now I am a woman who has been doing skincare since she was practically 10 so it's been many many decades and what not, mind you I wasn't one of those sephora kids who are stupid enough to use retional at the age of 10 💀 my skincare back then consisted of just cleanser, toner, sum protecting lip balm and sunscreen.

Today I would like to give general skincare advice that is applicable for ALL skin types. Mind you if you have serious issues then do go to dermatologist because the tips I am giving today is to how to have better skin and very general stuff. Hope you guys like it!! <3 💕

Pre-Advice:-

Always know your skin type. This makes things way easier than people actually realize.

Don't always follow the trend because not everyone has similar skin and I doesn't matter ift hey claim to cure you so called problamatic spefic areas always ready the ingredients, be sure about it, consult with your doctor and then use it.

Patience patience patience. I cannot stress this enough, skincare takes time it may take 1 week or even whole 1 year to heal or to see the results. Don't go blaming products if you skip skincare or aren't using it properly. If you are getting rashes you aren't using correct products. If you have sensitive skin I highly suggest you to carefully select your products because anything can give you rashes or irritate your skin. Be careful and take care.

Step 1

Always make sure you know your skin, make sure you are 100% sure with what you want to tackle. The very first step of skincare and general wellbeing is knowing what you want to achieve, for example the sole reason I do skincare is to protect my skin and to make sure my body deserves better. There are many types of skincare routines, you are free to pick one and be dedicated to that.

My skincare consists ONLY of Korean and Japanese products, few of my favorite brands are suwalhsoo, innisfree, hadalabo and such. Skincare is an investment and I hate to say it but splurging on little expensive products REALLY DO make the difference and they do bring a lot of change. If you don't have the budget then I suggest buying trusted drugstore brands (I am kind of unfamiliar with them 😅) and stick to home remedies instead.

I am Asian and we are known to have thousands of home remedies that actually work. Some remedies that I use on daily basis are cucumber and rice water. For this you need to slice cucumber and soak them in rice water for 3-4hrs and put each slice on your face and let it sit for 20-25 mins and don't throw the starch rice water, you can use that in your hair after you shampoo and conditioner put that water in your scalp and massage it keep it for 10mins or so and wash it off for healthy hair, if you have black hair it looks so lustrous and shiny!!

Other remedy is using loose "wet" green tea leaves and mixing it with pure honey, now for this you need to use organic honey for best results. You can't just go and buy honey from grocery store, simply yuck! I suggest you go to organic market and splurge some on organic real honey. Mix those leaves and honey and put the paste on your lips and keep it for 10mins Or so and wash it off, you will get so nice, plumpy and soft lips.

If you don't wanna do all this work then you can simply use a really good lip balm, I used to use various types but in the end I realized that the lip balm they make for babies are the best because they are mild, made with baby safe ingredients so it's best for sensitive skin and it actually works. If you feel like you're too "grown up" to use baby lip balm then I highly suggest any dior lip balm, sure they are expensive but my lips have NEVER FELT SO PRETTY after using dior. Often times with luxury brands these makeup or skincare is either hit or miss but with dior oh! They ate!! It's so good!! You can also simply use innisfree green tea lip balm too, works wonders. Honestly just plain Vaseline also works wonders but choice is yours.

Step 2

Body! This is definitely a sensitive topic but fret not, it's not what you think. By this I mean what goes inside your body also plays a huge role in your skin and body, we need a balanced life by that I mean yea sure healthy greens and well balanced protein options are good but once in a while it's not bad to eat fast food, I absolutely hate how tiktok people say "chemicals" and refuse to use it like boo, everything is chemicals 💀 the only difference is good and bad chemicals. From toothpastes to even the gastric acid that is present inside our body is all chemicals, when will people learn this?

Few steps to have a nourished body are follows:-

Always drink probiotic drinks after you've had a heavy food at the END of the day. My favorite probiotic drink is yakult, it is best to drink at the end of the day because when you are at rest the good bacteria has great chance of working even more prominently.

This one goes out to all the people who can't live without spicy food. Yes, it's time to put down jalapeno, king chili, thai green chili, especially chili powders from India and give your stomach a rest for at least a day. This is a devastating news but I've had a lot of Indian friends who moved to white dominated country and their skin actually improved because food there is super bland and I'm talking full on painful pimples, acne and even healed stomach issues like ulcers, ALL GONE because of bland white people food 😭💀Yes, so you can definitely eat spicy food but don't overdo it in the name of "must have spicy food or I refuse to eat anything"

Please hydrate yourself, and I am sick of hearing "but water tastes bland, can I mix some juice powder?" Umm no?? If you hate the taste of water drink infused water. Some of my favorite infused water "recipes" are cucumber and lemon, blueberries, strawberry. But tbvh you MUST drink water as it is, even if you feel like it's bland, it's for your own good.

Step 3

Gossip, gossip, gossip. It might seem surprising but gossip does play a huge role in lifestyle. It is a factual thing that your skin and body reacts based on how you've been feeling and how you choose to surround yourself. It is true that bad person do have huge affect on your wellbeing...Especially skin, yes you heard that correctly, bad person do affect skin because when you interact with toxic people their ruin your mood, when your mood is ruined you are often faced with so called "negative" feelings like anger, stress and even anxiety. These things bubble up and have negative side affect on your skin and thus make you not only break out but also cause hair loss, headaches and even chronic fatigues.

People underestimate this so much it's crazy! You must remove all the toxic members in your life. If it's family member and you feel obligated then your next best option is to keep a distance or fight back. You deserve the best and surrounding yourself with genuinely nice people will be so wholesome and nourishing for not only your mental health but skin as well.

Toxic people DO ruin your skin and make you break out like hives! Even if it's a relationship, do find the strength to break up with your toxic partners.

what. I heard chemical sunscreens were the scam.

mineral sunscreens are at best lying to the public and at worst actively harming its users. mineral suncreens have a problem with formula texture and will often recommend people use a "pea sized" amount of sunscreen to combat this, which is not Nearly enough and result in people being inadequately protected from the sun while convinced that they are. mineral sunscreens also dodge regulations and use misleading language when promoting their products (like saying theyre 100% chemical free when they use zinc oxide, a chemical. oops!) and will even use unsafe ingredients in their products in an attempt to avoid "chemicals". chemical ingredients are highly regulated and very specific about how much youre legally allowed to use because there have been tests done about risk and its been tested over and over. ironically enough, some mineral suncreens are actually hybrid sunscreens (its almost like you need ~Chemicals~ in order to create literally anything) and will still market themselves as being Clean and Chemical Free while literally containing the same ingredients as the brands theyre bashing!

mineral sunscreens are by and large capitalizing off of people's fears surrounding their health and risking people's lives to do it. this is not to say that omg my chemical sunscreens are my precious babies free of criticism, but mineral sunscreens are not the saviors of the reefs nor your skin and if you want to be protected you need to have more than a pea sized amount on your face!

this is PART 2! :)

"you're getting really burnt baby" dokyeom says suddenly, noticing how your arm is in direct sunlight and turning bright pink.

you shrug it off as he keeps his arm around you, placing his hand on your arm so that most of it is covered. it's hot to the touch.

"let's go inside for a bit, i'll get you some sunscreen. i think my grandma is inside anyways" he says, standing up from the bench.

you haven't met his grandmother yet, but that's the one you're most nervous about. the grandmas like a big deal, isn't it? maybe you're just thinking about it too much. you stand up and follow him into the house, staying behind him as he leads you into the kitchen. his grandma is in there making even more food, even though there's enough out there already to feed a small country. it reminds you of your grandma, and for a moment you are a little calmer.

"hi grandma!" he calls out happily, meeting her over by the sink. she turns around and sees it's him, and brings him in for a big hug. you melt at the sight, seeing how much she loves him and is happy he's here. you have that in common with her. you stand awkwardly at the end of the kitchen, rocking on your feet.

"and this pretty girl must be y/n! i've heard so much about you" she says as she looks over at you, smiling sweetly.

dokyeom turns towards you with a soft smile and holds his hand out, indicating for you to come over. you take his hand and step forward, smiling back at her. 

"well aren't you just a vision" she beams, taking you in as you shift awkwardly under all the attention. "you weren't wrong, she is absolutely stunning" she says, nudging your boyfriend. he notices your flushed cheeks and stands next to you, placing his hand lovingly on your back. 

"thank you" you say shyly, still red from the compliment. "it's so nice to meet you. i've also heard so much about you, especially your famous cooking" you say, trying to initiate the small talk. she chuckles at the compliment, and notices you extend your hand out to shake hers.

"oh i'm a hugger dear" she says, pulling you in for a hug. you smile at the gesture, looking at dokyeom as you hug her back. 

"i told you" he mouths, giggling quietly, as he had warned me a couple days ago about how she was a big hugger. 

she starts to talk about the food she's making, and you politely follow along. dokyeom stands back and watches as you happily obliging to taking the spoon in your mouth and testing the recipe. he puts his hand on your back again, rubbing gently as butterflies erupt in your stomach. as his grandma turns to get something from the fridge, you turn to him thinking he's trying to get your attention.

"yeah?" you ask him, noticing his dorky smile.

"nothing" he answers, continuing to rub your back. 

she comes back with a new ingredient and gets back to work, letting you help when you can. dokyeom has talked about you a lot to his grandma, and she knows how happy you make him. she already loved you before she even met you. he notices your bright pink arm, remembering why he brought you in here in the first place.

"hey grandma, do you have any sunscreen?" he asks. "y/n is getting burnt pretty badly out there". he gently touches my arm, showing her.

"oh poor girl!" she frowns. "yes yes it's in the cabinet above the sink in the bathroom".

he says thank you and brings you to the bathroom. the house is quiet as everybody else is outside, their voices quietly traveling through the open windows. you peek around at the living room area as you walk by, noticing that she has quite the eye for decoration, and countless pictures of the family all in beautiful picture frames. you smile as you take it all in. once you're in the bathroom he takes out the sunscreen right away, gently applying it to your arm as to not hurt you. you lean against the sink as he does so, just admiring him. he catches your eyes, smiling at you.

"how're you doing baby girl?" he asks, hoping that you're a little less nervous and having some fun.

"good, actually. everybody is so nice" you smile.

"they love you" he smiles, stating matter of factly. he leans in to peck your lips.

"i don't even think i'm being that awkward" you say honestly, surprised at yourself.

"well that makes a lot of sense, because i told you you're not awkward" he says, poking your belly and making you laugh. you laugh in response, sticking your tongue out.

"and, i'm really proud of you" he adds, holding your hand.

"thank you" you reply softly, kissing his cheek.

after he puts the sunscreen back you leave the bathroom and go back into the kitchen where his grandma tells us that everyone is getting ready to take a walk down to the lake. theres a little lake at the end of the street, one dokyeom has told many fond stories of so you are really excited to see it. you meet everybody outside and start walking, the two of you trailing behind a little. you take his hand in yours, happily swaying them back and forth as you walk. something about today feels perfect, but you can't quite put your finger on it. the temperature is the kind that feels like a warm hug, embracing you and cooling you off with a breeze just when you need it. there are no clouds in the sky, giving the sun the spotlight to shine down on everything it touches.

dokyeom thinks you couldn't possibly look more beautiful right now if you tried. the sun is getting lower in the sky, leaving a golden hue on your skin. your eyes sparkle when you look at him, the caramel brown being the prettiest color he thinks he's ever seen. he uses his free hand to subconsciously reach into his pocket and hold the ring, a habit he's developed lately when he's admiring you. he chuckles at you as you let go of his hand and run ahead quickly saying "this butterfly is so pretty!". you bend down to the height of the plant it landed on, trying to get it to land on your finger. to no avail, it flew away and vanished. 

"it flew away" you pout, turning around to look at him. 

he's stopped in the street a few feet away, smiling at your cute frustration. 

"i'm sorry cutie, maybe he'll come back" he says. 

you start to wall back towards him but he says "wait! stay right there!".

you tilt your head at him inquisitively, waiting for an explanation. he pulls out his phone and gets the camera ready, pointing it at you. he tells you to smile, so you do. he focuses the camera, cooing at the view. a rush of wind blows by right as he's about to press the button, blowing your hair back behind you. the sun is almost down now, leaving everything with a tint of darkness, but you stay bright as the sun. he's amazed by you, and that will never change. most of the others are already down at the lake, and its just in view. you hear them laughing and cheering, and then a couple loud booms. the colorful lights change the color of the sky, whizzing and cracking as they go by. you turn to the side to look at the fireworks, smiling brightly in awe at the nice surprise. dokyeom takes the picture, right as a beautiful red firework explodes in the sky, lighting up the genuine smile on your face. it's his new favorite photo of you. 

for a moment you forget he was even taking a picture as you get so caught up in the pretty display. 

"y/n" dokyeom says, smiling to himself widely as he waits for you to turn around.

this is it.

as you turn around, he drops down to his knee, watching your face the whole time. his hands get clammy, and his heart is beating a million miles a minute. you look so pretty right now, and he loves you more than he understands. you bring your hand up to your mouth, realizing what's happening. you really didn't expect this, but at the same time it is the most perfect timing. 

"theres no way of doing this without sounding cringey" he says, laughing nervously as he shakes his head momentarily, reaching his hand into his pocket. "every single day since the day i met you i have been changed for the better. you are the other half of me, an extension of me. i love you more everyday even when i think i already love you more than anyone could ever love anything. i want to do this for the rest of my life. i want to wake up next to you everyday, and eat chocolate chip pancakes and cereal for breakfast and have you yell at me saying it's too much sugar" he chuckles at the comment. 

you giggle back, realizing that tears have been streaming down your face since the second his knee touched the ground.

"you are everything that's good in this world. you have shown me what love is, what happiness is, and what life is all about" he continues, smiling ear to ear as a tear falls from his eye as well. he doesn't bother wiping it away. you cry harder at his sincerity. 

"baby, will you marry me?" he finally asks, opening the case and holding the ring out in front of him. 

you can't even speak, your lips are stuck in a smile and your cheeks are soaked with tears. you start nodding vigorously, before finally your vocal chords do their job.

"yes!! yes yes a million times yes!" you respond, not waiting another second to throw yourself at him. 

he stands up from the ground just in time to catch you, spinning you around as the fireworks continue to go off in the back. believe it or not, he didn't even know they were going to do that. perfect touch guys, he thinks. 

he places you back on the ground, keeping his arms wrapped around you tightly and proudly. he slides the ring on your finger and then cups your face, kissing you passionately. you kiss him back so hard as you are bubbling with overwhelming happiness at the thought of this being your reality for the rest of forever. 

"i love you so much" you say, placing your hands on either side of his face. 

he smiles, "god i love you so much too". he looks into your eyes for a little while, trying to comprehend the fact that he has the most perfect girl in the world as his soon to be wife. 

the homemade version of the firework finale begins, making you feel like this isn't even real life. you turn around to watch them light up the sky. dokyeom stands behind you, pulling you against his chest and wrapping his arms around your waist. you lean your head on his chest as you look up at the show, the lights dancing in your eyes. you feel his heart beating against your head, smiling at how fast it is. 

"i think this is the best day of my life" you say, tilting your head to look up at him. 

you expect him to turn his attention away from the fireworks and look down at you, but he was already looking. you blush.

"good, because it is most definitely mine" he kisses your forehead, then your nose, and then your lips. the ring looks much better on your finger than it did in his pocket, and now he thinks he has nothing to ever complain about, because everything he will ever need is right here.

No seriously, that's Astarions reaction to you being a wizard. You choose to base your entire life around studying? You two are basically like oil and water in a lot of ways. 

Ok but in all seriousness, Astarion does admire your dedication to your craft. He sees how much work you put into learning new spells and is genuinely excited when you get it right 

It doesn’t mean he’s gonna stop making fun of you though. You're telling him you belong to a SCHOOL of magic??? Need for Academic validation much? Oh and please, if you're gonna wear wizard robes try to make them a little stylish, or he’ll come for your sense of fashion too.

Actually, I bet he’d help you spice up your outfits a little. A thigh slit here, a tasteful gold embroidery there, your not completely beyond hope

Dw tho, you can absolutely get him back. Oh, you need some magical assistance? Maybe help figuring out how a magical item works? Uh oh, looks like the rouge needs the wizard's help after all dontcha astarion? 

It’s definitely the highlight of your day when he has to ask for help. Unfortunately, it goes both ways. His speed and skills have definitely saved your ass in battle before 

Honestly, it’s giving annoyances to lovers. Plus I’m convinced at least 40% of Astarions love language is sass and knife cat energy. 

He enjoys the banter definitely, but it’s never meant to cut too deep. He’s good at reading people, so say you're having trouble learning this one spell and you're starting to get frustrated. He can definitely tell and knows not to make jokes about your magic today. He can’t exactly help, because this man is NOT magically inclined. But he’ll pull you away from the spell scroll long enough for you to take a deep breath and have a break. It helps in its own way because now you can come back to it with a more calm mindset. 

You can’t tell me this man isn’t laughing (a little manically) when you cast fireball. I mean come on that’s one of the most entertaining things he’s seen in 200 years let him have some fun

But also-  

He secretly finds your powers very cool. I mean there’s something beautiful about magic at its core, he can’t help but be just a little entranced. And you’ve definitely used magic to show off to him just a lil (make a rose out of magic blue light or somethin he’ll scoff but find it endearing) 

Honestly, I imagine you two are a slight hoarder couple. I mean you need to have all these ingredients for spells on you, and Astarions a rouge he definitely has like at least 5 knives on him at all times. Also the magic items. You both love to hoard those, just in case they’re useful 

If you actually do have some sort of wizard's tower, layer, study, or something Astarion wants to see it

He’ll make a joking excuse as to why he wants to see your lair. And he’s DEFINITELY gonna grab a random cloak in there and do a bad wizard impersonation 

BUT- 

The real reason he wants to see it is because it’s an integral part of you. It’s basically your home, where you store everything you find valuable, where the pantry is always stocked with the food you like, and where the bed has the exact number of pillows you want it to have. Astarion wants to know these things about you. 

I imagine after you finally defeat the mindflayers and everyone goes off to find their own way (or maybe you all stick together and keep adventuring while also occasionally having individual adventures, who am I to break up your found family) you immediately take Astarion to your tower and start working on methods to help him walk in the sun. magic sunscreen? Enchanted daylight ring? Charmed circlet? You've got options and you're not afraid to use them. Anything to make it so that Astarion doesn’t have to live his life in darkness anymore. You jest and say it would be a true tragedy if you couldn't see his beautiful silver hair kissed by the sunrise, but in reality, you were immediately tearing through every tome you owned looking for a solution. After all, who wouldn't do anything for the man that held their heart? 

Ok now imagine. You and Astarion just completed a mission, saving some people in the grove with Halsin. And you already had received a message from Wyll and Karlach asking for assistance smoking out a group of assasins that had settled in Baldurs gate. But gods you were so tired. It was nearly midnight when you both decided to crash at your liar instead of heading straight to the location Wyll had given you. You were both covered in mud, twigs, and other “gifts of nature” as Astarion had described them in a voice mocking Halsins. You were so tired your eyelids stung, and everything was hazy. You both more or less stumbled into your study, already half asleep. 

Of course, you had become a bit more coherent when you realized that there was only one bed. And two of you. Now this might seem a bit ridiculous to care about things like that considering how close the two of you are and how much you have been through and done together, but now hear me out. This man has spent the last 200 years either not having a bed or being forced to share one. You had both decided he needed some time to just be able to have his own space to sleep, after all, you had all of your lifetime together, and you wanted him to be comfortable, so whenever he had come to your study, he slept on the couch. You had wanted to get him a cot or something of his own at the place, buuut it had kinda slipped your mind entirely. And the couch he slept on was currently covered in about 50 books stacked across the couch, another thing you had forgotten about. Whoops. 

You and Astarion both looked at the pile of books on the couch and then at each other. You felt like you were about to pass out where you stood and he didn't look much better. There was an instant understanding between the both of you, that understanding being “fuck it” as you both collapse onto your bed, neither taking off your filthy armor and robes, simply passing out on the spot.

You awoke to a certain vampires face buried in the crook of your neck, trying to block out the sun now shining in his eyes. Eventually, you both dragged yourself out of the small bed and cleaned yourselves up before heading off to Wyll's location, but after this situation you both unspokenly began to sleep in the same bed alot more often.

It's formulated for human babies with sensitive skin, so it's perfect for your little meat babies too!! Fifth; Keep them away from anything with active ingredients like Salicylic Acid or Grapefruit, these will tear holes in the poor babies flesh membrane! These will also work with any trimming with sensitive skin! Remember, for professional medical advice for trimmings always contact a licensed veterinarian!!

Trust me my skin isnt this flawless the filters kinda smooth it out 😔 but for my skincare i double cleanse every day even if I don't wear makeup because I wear sunscreen everyday. And then for the rest I try to see what my skin needs that night. I have dry sensitive skin (but it's prone to clogging 😔) so i love using toners. Usually, I layer two, and then I use serums based on the routine I'm following that day. Then I use a good moisturising cream. As for ingredients my skin loves niacinamide and salyslic acid (toners). On the days I'm using a chemical exfoliant I keep everything so basic, just double cleanse, use acid toner and moisturise. I also love masks a lot. Sheet masks every 2 days is truly life changing, just make sure the masks are suitable for daily use. I guess that's all I can say for skin care. I'm also still learning a lot as well😣

For makeup, I can talk about it for houuurs so I have to know what you really want to know so that I can be more specific. I personally like alternative make up styles and douyin makeup. I noticed (for my skin) skin prep doesn't really work, it makes my makeup look so patchy. So I just use a good sunscreen as a base and keep applying my makeup. I've tried quite a few sunscreens but imo the best one esp for makeup is the Isntree Sun Gel. It's so lightweight my skin eats it so well and my makeup never looks patchy or oily. I dont like foundations they feel heavy on my skin so I either use tints or just a concealer :( If you don't have a color corrector for your eyes just use a reddish lipstick i used to do it like that and it works. If you like to put on eyeliner make sure you put a puff on the back of your hand (or fingers, whichever part of your hand touches your face) to prevent any lifting or patching. Make sure you spray some kind of a setting spray between layers to smooth out and blend in the products, I use the ones from Mac. For shimmers and glitters I suggest you use asian brands. These are all I can come up with now like I said makeup is endless for me I could go on for hours so ask me more I'll tell you more <3

You just need something simple and gentle. If you’re having a break out, use something with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (leave on for 3-5 minutes to allow the active ingredients to work)

2. Naturium Tranexamic Acid Brightening Treatment

Mostly for antioxidant support throughout the day. Antioxidants prevent free radical damage that can result in collagen breakdown. It contains tranexamic acid, alpha arbutin, and kojic acid -in addition to being antioxidants they are also tyrosinase inhibitors that prevent the formation of dark spots.

3. Sunscreen

Most important step! SPF 30 or higher

Just find something that works for you and apply it EVERY morning (~1/4 tsp or two finger lengths for the face and neck)

Night:

1. CeraVe cream to foam cleanser

2. Naturium Tranexamic Acid Brightening Treatment

3. Tretinoin (prescription) HOLY GRAIL

Topical retinoids are the gold standard for fighting acne, sun damage, and aging. It works on the cellular level to increase cell turn over, collagen synthesis, blood vessel formation. You must be consistent and it take 8-12 weeks before results are visible. 👨🏾‍🔬

Adapalene and other retinols are available otc. and can be more beginner friendly.

4. CeraVe Baby Lotion ( has similar ingredients to the their night cream but it has way more product for a better price lol)

Miscellaneous:

Paula’s Choice BHA or CeraVe Acne Control gels

These are exfoliants I use once or twice a week if my skin is dull or textured

A dermatologist is probably the best person to ask for skincare advice, so if you have access I highly recommend booking a consultation. They’re also teledermatology services that can things a bit more accessible.

From Lifeguard Dreams to Sun Safety: My Journey and Tips for Skin Protection

Ever wonder if your childhood dreams could have turned into a nightmare? When I was 16, I aspired to be a lifeguard, watching over swimmers from a high guard chair, feeling invincible. Little did I know, those sunny days by the pool could cast long shadows over my future health. Here's why I'm grateful I never became a lifeguard and how my journey led me to embrace smarter sun protection choices. 

Growing up in the 80s, our sun protection options were limited: no sunscreen or tanning lotion. My household fell into the no-sunscreen camp. I wasn’t outdoors as much as my friends, so I usually ended up with a light tan and no burns during the summer. I guess less sun exposure spared me from skin issues today. Unfortunately, today my lifeguard friends are having issues with their skin.

Thankfully, we now have more choices than when I was a kid. I’m particularly fond of the new retro zinc protection. While chemical sunscreens were effective, reports of them causing skin issues made me rethink my choices.

In 2021, the Food and Drug Administration, which oversees sunscreen safety, proposed its latest update to regulations for these products. The agency reviewed 16 ingredients and reported that only two, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, are “generally recognized as safe and effective”, or GRASE, based on the available information. A GRASE designation means the ingredient is widely recognized as safe and effective by experts. (EWG’s Guide to Sunscreens, n.d.) 

 I thought sunscreens were meant to protect us, not harm us, so I switched to Zinc Oxide a few years ago.

18. your boba/tea order? annnd 12. brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%?

tbh i don't ever get boba? so i dont know? i'd like to try it at some point. i love chai, though. i'm not a huge tea drinker, but if i'm going to drink tea, it'll either be chai, some form of green tea(rn i've got a green tea with pomegranate mix in my drink area that i'm excited to try), or Aveda's herbal tea mix. Aveda's tea is expensive as dicks but if you like the taste of fennel(similar to licorice), it's really good.

oh man, i love this second question lmao. i'm very biased bc i'm a licensed cosmetologist, but there are also even high-end brands i don't really fuck with. buckle up bc this answer is gonna be long lol. for each category:

Haircare: for haircare, i really like Bumble and Bumble, Drybar, Babyliss(they make some of the best tools on the market), Redken, Joico, Olaplex, and Wella. i know they are ridiculously expensive and it sucks and i wish they were more accessible. the good news about their price point, though, is bc they don't contain filler ingredients like other brands, you can use less and it lasts longer. i used to also love Chi, Paul Mitchell, and Biolage, but they've significantly decreased in quality in the last few years. they do still have some good products at cheaper price points, but some of the stuff isn't as good as it used to be.

Body care: my three biggest body care loves out there are Dove, Cetaphil, and Necessaire. Dove and CeraVe are more inexpensive without sacrificing quality; Dove's soaps are made in a different way from conventional soaps, so they're gentler on your skin, while still very cleansing. i tend to use either their bar soaps or their body washes. and i love CeraVe's body washes, their body wash and body lotion with salycylic acid are great for ketosis pilaris(aka chicken skin or strawberry skin) or body acne in general. Necessaire is more high-end and therefore more expensive, but their body exfoliator is the only one i'll ever use again, i swear. i use it in the shower after washing my body, and i use those exfoliating gloves you can get basically anywhere. it's got both chemical and physical exfoliation, and it lathers REALLY well, so you dont need a lot(i literally just do two single stripes down each arm, and that's enough for my whole body. and i'm fat, so thinner people likely don't even need that much!). it makes you super baby smooth, so if you're into that and you have the money for it, i highly recommend it.

skincare: i will forever and always love CeraVe and Cetaphil for skincare. CeraVe's sunscreen is kind of trash(i wish they would reformulate them SO badly), but outside of that, their products are great. they're full of ingredients that help restore your skin's acid mantle, which basically affects the health of your skin. Cetaphil is very similar in formula to CeraVe, but their products are designed for people with extremely sensitive skin, so they have no additives that could potentially disrupt your skin's acid mantle. both brands are recommended by many people i know who work in skincare, both dermatologists and estheticians.

outside of those two, i also really like The Ordinary's products for their price point, but i do think it's a bit irresponsible of them to just sell such strong chemical exfoliants to the public without putting lots of warnings on their products. facial skin is very sensitive compared to the skin on your body, and with products like chemical exfoliants, you need to start in small doses, and always wear sunscreen, as they can make your skin more photosenstive, which can cause more problems than whatever you were trying to get rid of with the exfoliant.

(please please PLEASE always wear sunscreen, if you don't take any of my other advice PLEASE take this one! skin cancer is no joke, and it can affect anyone!!!! even if you're not using actives in your skincare routine, unless you sit indoors 100% of the time with NO windows around you should wear a suncreen for the health of your skin!)

and finally, i also love Paula's Choice, Black Girl Sunscreen, and Supergoop!. BGS and Supergoop! are both great sunscreen options with no white cast, which is great for people with more melanin, or those who are being flash photographed often. Paula's Choice is a bit on the pricey side but they are very thorough with their ingredient choices, and their research into the ingredients that they use is incredibly thorough. plus, PC also runs the Beautypedia ingredient index, which is an incredibly useful tool. basically, you can take any product you like, plug the ingredients into their database, and it will tell you what the ingredients do, what they're used for in the product, and if they're beneficial or detrimental to the skin.
